Prerequisites

  • eSIM capable phone
  • eSIM QR code (received by email or through theTravelNet website)
  • Good WiFi connection, preferably not a satellite connection (found on ships or aeroplanes) or free Wi-Fi (like in airports or cafes), as these might not work.

How to check if your phone 📱 is eSIM compatible by Dialling?

Dial: *#06#

If you spot an EID number, it indicates that your phone is compatible with eSIM.

I have purchased my eSIM, What are the next steps?

  1. install the eSIM (videos below)
  2. Configure the APN parameter as stated in the eSIM order that was emailed to you.
  3. turn on data roaming
  4. Start browsing the internet

*Note for iPhone users: Only set it on the Mobile Data APN with no username or Password*

Manual installation of eSIM

Navigate to the section for manual entry and input the SM-DP address (found in the purchase email) along with the activation code (also provided in the purchase email).

How to check if my iOS device is carrier unlocked?

  1. Go to "Settings"
  2. Tap on "General"
  3. Tap on "About"
  4. Scroll down to view the "Carrier lock" or "Network Provider Lock" section
  5. it should say "No SIM restrictions"

How do I check if my Android phone is carrier unlocked?

  1. To ensure that your phone supports eSIM, you will need to locate its "eSIM IMEI" number
  2. Go to "Settings"
  3. If you are able to access the search bar in your Settings type in "IMEI", and the option "IMEI information" (or similar) should show up
  4. Otherwise, please go to:
  5. "About Phone"
  6. "Status"
  7. Tap on "IMEI information"
  8. If the "IMEI" (eSIM) is available it should mean that your device supports eSIM

How to check if my Google Pixel eSIM is compatible?

  • Go Settings ->
  • Networks & Internet ->
  • SIMs ->
  • ‘+Add more’.

If you are using Pixel 3/3a or a later model, it will be there and that means
the phone supports eSIM

IMPORTANT EXCEPTIONS

Some models have exceptions depending on models and markets.

Operator-locked devices: If your device is locked to a specific carrier due to a contract, it needs to be unlocked first to be able to use the eSIMs sold on our platform.

  1. iPhone: iPhone models produced for the Chinese market have 2 physical SIM card slots and do not support eSIM. If your iPhone can take 2 physical SIM cards you won't be able to use eSIM.

  2. Samsung: Samsung restricts eSIM capability by software in some markets and some model sub-variants. Always check for individual phones by going to Settings-> Connections -> SIM Card Manager. If you can see the 'Add Mobile Plan' tab in the eSIMs section, you can use eSIM.

  3. Operator-locked devices: If your device is locked to a specific carrier due to a contract, it needs to be unlocked first to be able to use the eSIMs sold on our platform.

I already have an eSIM on my phone, can I add another one?

Yes, you can. You can store several eSIM profiles in your phone, but you need to choose only one that will be active along with your primary physical SIM. So, the dual SIM functionality means having both:

  1. Your primary physical SIM,
  2. One of your stored eSIM profiles is active at the same time.

💡 Did you know?

Starting with iPhone 13, Apple made it possible to have 2 eSIMs active at the same time, while the primary physical SIM card is off.

ShallI buy before or after I reach my destination?

It is up to you.

We recommend buying and setting up the eSIM shortly before travel so you can start using it as soon as you land. You can keep the eSIM off until you arrive at your destination.

However the eSIM has to be used within 3 months of purchase

Can I use the same eSIM package in multiple countries or destinations?

Yes.
If you buy a package that works in multiple countries, you can move between them and it will continue to work.

CanI use hotspot with my eSIM?

Yes, you can use a hotspot with your eSIM.

In order to make it work please:

  1. Disconnect WiFi
  2. Restart the phone
  3. Use data from your eSIM
  4. Then turn on your hotspot

If it still not working make sure the correct APN is in the hotspot section.

Can I buy the eSIM for somebody else?

Yes.
You can buy the eSIM and pass the QR code to a friend, colleague, or family member. Anyone with an eSIM-capable device can use the QR code to download the eSIM.

However only 1 eSIM can be purchased at a time

How do i delete an eSIM?

You can delete the eSIM(s) you will no longer use, or temporarily disable an eSIM, in your device’s settings.

To delete an eSIM:

  1. Go to Settings on your device
  2. Go to Cellular/Mobile
  3. Tap on your eSIM
  4. Select Remove Mobile Data Plan
